Through collaboration with stakeholders, we aim to equip individuals and communities with tools to monitor pollinator populations and work with communities and businesses to create pollinator-friendly spaces and integrate sustainable practices. 

The EI Pollinators Observatory builds on the work carried out by Ecostack Innovations, including through the BEEPOLL Space Fund project funded by Xjenza Malta which has integrated remote sensing, Internet-of-Things (IoT) logging sensors, field data to monitor pollinators and the MAMBO Project #HorizonEurope project which is augmenting biodiversity monitoring through automated biodiversity monitoring.

Supporting the EU Pollinators Initiative

The observatory directly contributes to the objectives of the EU Pollinators Initiative, which aims to tackle the decline of wild pollinators and ensure their protection across Europe. Our efforts align with the initiative’s key priorities:

• Improving Pollinator Knowledge: By creating a robust, long-term monitoring system, we are addressing data gaps and advancing the scientific understanding of pollinator trends, distributions, and threats.

• Tackling the Causes of Decline: The observatory investigates the impact of habitat loss, invasive species, and agricultural practices on pollinators, providing actionable insights to mitigate these threats.

• Raising Awareness and Promoting Collaboration: The observatory engages citizen scientists, farmers, beekeepers, companies, and enthusiasts, fostering a shared sense of responsibility and encouraging pollinator-friendly practices across sectors.
