Ecostack Innovations continues to expand, with new colleagues and new spaces. We've opened the doors to a new office in San Ġwann, a space that provides opportunity to further our mission to work with a diversity of landscapes and disciplines. As we continue to develop partnerships and projects, this new base invites us to engage more directly with the changing environment right outside our window.
We're delighted to welcome Dr Francesca Boyd, a social scientist with a background in environmental psychology and geography. Her research explores the interplay between urban landscapes, communities, and human connection, offering new insights into how people interact with the spaces around them.
Joining at the same time is Stefanie Beach, a biologist with specialisation in marine biology. She brings valuable experience in biological research and fieldwork. Her work reflects a commitment to scientific research and a deep understanding of biodiversity topics.
Just as our office expands, so too do our ambitions, with recent highlights including:
Launching Horizon Europe Project GREEN TALENT, which brings together an international consortium of researchers, businesses and institutions to develop research and innovation for system solutions to the climate and biodiversity crises. Leading the project provides the opportunity to share the beauty of Malta when we welcome the team to join us in person next month.
ESPON VREPO - Developing policy recommendations aimed at increasing resilience of the physical living environment across Europe. The team behind ESPON VREPO have been working with EU regions to share best practices and gather stakeholder feedback from Flanders (BE), Malta (MT), Lithuania (LT), Région SUD Provence-Alpes-Côte d’Azur (FR) and Enschede (NL). This project aims to strengthen territorial resilience planning by identifying risks and developing recommendations for implementation and monitoring across all stages of the Disaster Risk Management Cycle.
EPIC BEE - Developing knowledge of pollinator identification and sampling, in EPIC BEE the team are training students from across Europe to specialise in taxonomy, combining field and laboratory work. This project brings together different experts to further the European-level understanding of wild bees, hoverflies and butterflies.
Whether working on rooftops or coastlines, with policymakers or communities, we're committed to shaping resilient landscapes and inclusive futures, one interdisciplinary step at a time.
