“How can Nature-based Solutions move from successful local pilots to wider, long-term implementation?” This question will guide Ecostack Innovations’ workshop at the Nature-based Solutions International Congress 2026, taking place at Sorbonne University in Paris between the 2-6 November. Our session, “Scaling Nature-based Solutions through a biodiversity–climate–health lens: a replication lab”, will take place on 4 November 2026 as part of the Congress Scientific Conference programme.
The Congress will bring together researchers, policymakers, practitioners, public authorities, businesses and civil society actors working to strengthen the role of Nature-based Solutions (NbS) in responding to biodiversity, climate and societal challenges. Its Scientific Conference forms part of a wider five-day programme designed to connect research, policy and practice through knowledge-to-action and action-to-knowledge exchange.
Our workshop will focus on a key challenge for NbS: how to adapt and scale interventions across different governance and territorial contexts. While many NbS initiatives show promising results at local level, their longer-term sustainability, replication across regions and integration into policy frameworks often remain limited.
The session will take the form of an interactive Replication Lab, moving beyond discussion of barriers to explore what works in practice. Participants will work in small, mixed groups using selected NbS case studies to examine how a proven intervention could be adapted to a new context, what governance conditions are needed, and what policy and capacity requirements can support implementation.
The workshop builds on Ecostack Innovations’ work in the Horizon Europe projects GoGreenNext and GREEN TALENT, bringing together insights from urban pilots in Cork, Päijät-Häme, Malta and Klagenfurt, alongside capacity-building approaches for policymakers, practitioners and researchers.
A key output will be a set of concise Replication Blueprints, capturing practical lessons for transferring and scaling NbS across contexts. These outputs will inform ongoing project work on best practices and capacity-building, and will contribute to the development of a joint Comment or Perspective paper.
The Call for Abstracts and Posters for the Scientific Conference is open until 5 June 2026. Researchers, practitioners and policymakers working on relevant Nature-based Solutions case studies are encouraged to submit their contributions and join the discussion.
