Addressing climate change and biodiversity loss in an integrated manner is essential to building resilient societies and sustainable economies. The EU-funded GREEN TALENT project will build capacity, promote networking and facilitate knowledge exchange through four demonstration hubs in Widening Countries. Academic and SME partners will provide expertise, support secondments and connect to international R&I efforts, while non-Widening partners will enhance capacity building and cooperation. The project will develop five open-access training modules on R&I topics, including grant management and entrepreneurship, as well as five interdisciplinary modules focused on nature-based solutions. The demonstration pilots will deliver practical solutions to climate and biodiversity challenges, fostering collaboration between academic and non-academic sectors.
With a focus on biodiversity and climate action, GREEN TALENT seeks to:
- Identify knowledge, skill and competence gaps that limit the contribution of R&I talent to biodiversity conservation and climate action in Widening countries.
- Enhance cross-sectoral capacity through structured training, knowledge exchange and networking between academic institutions, businesses, and policy actors.
- Establish and support four demonstration hubs that promote collaboration, pilot training approaches, and build regional expertise in nature-based and climate-resilient innovation.
- Strengthen linkages between Widening countries, non-Widening countries and international networks to ensure interoperability, peer learning, and long-term impact.
- Contribute to the green transition by equipping the next generation of researchers and professionals with the tools to address biodiversity loss and implement climate mitigation and adaptation strategies.
